lyrics

She was born in the stable

Her daddy didn't want her

Disgrace to his name

Would be a bastard daughter

She was raised in the poor lands

Hardly bread in her belly

And frigid as the river

Her heart turned cold

When she came of age men turned their glances toward her

Up and down her their eyes did crawl

And soon enough they began to come upon her

Like snakes slithering staking their kill

A man name Abe he came onto court her

But she turned him away with one single breath

Abe he got angry and tried to grab her

So she dug her fingernails his head

But she looked so pretty in her ripped dress and bare feet

She looked so pretty in anything at all

She looked so pretty though empty and lonely

She looked so pretty with blood on her hands

The very next day a man knocked on her door

He asked her to come with him far far away

When she declined his offer he began to walk towards her

So she sunk a hatchet into his face

She dragged him outside and burned his body

Atop of the ashes that were once Abe

She felt no remorse, no sadness nor fear

But for her own salvation she did shed a tear

She looked so pretty in her ripped dress and bare feet

She looked so pretty in anything at all

She looked so pretty though empty and lonely

She looked so pretty with blood on her hands

In no more than a fortnight

She went out walking

Searching for work so she could survive

A lady she saw her and sat down beside her

She said I could have use for a pretty young lass

She said you'll look so pretty tangled in bed sheets

You'll look so pretty in a man's hands

You'll look so pretty you'll earn so much money

You'll look so pretty as they pay you to dance

She followed the lady into a structure

She followed the lady unto her death

The lady turned away and a man came upon her

And forced his hand onto her breast

She cried and she screamed but nobody came for her

So she drove a blade into his chest

She lay in the bed not a minute longer

Before she wrung her own neck and drew her last breath

She did look so pretty tangled in bed sheets

She still looked so pretty with no life in her eyes

She looked so pretty though pale and pasty

She still looked so pretty with blood on her hands

She looked so pretty and that's all they could see

She looked so pretty and that's all she was

She looked so pretty but she was so empty

She looked so pretty and that was her curse
